READ BEFORE PURCHASING: No refunds for no-shows for less than 24hr notice cancelations, full refund if canceled more than 3 days before event, 50% refund if canceled within 1-3 days of event. If you arrive more than 15 min before a ticketed event, you will be charged regular zoo admission on top of the event ticket ($10 adults, $7 kids), or you can book the time slot before ahead of time.

Mantis Terrarium Workshop

Mantises live for about one year. You will be receiving mantises that were born 02 Sept 2025. Timor shield mantises are from the island of Timor in SE Asia and cannot be released into the wild. We will provide a couple weeks worth of food and then you will need to find more which you can purchase from us, some pet stores, or order online. Kids under age 15 must have an adult present. Due to limited space, anyone attending who does not want to build a terrarium must still purchase a $10 guest ticket. Pricing
The Timor shield mantis is a very large species, especially females, so you will need at least two terrariums during the life of your mantis. The baby will be too small for a terrarium that can fit an adult. Here is a detailed cost breakdown and terrarium options: Basic Nymph Package - $60: mantis nymph, 5"x7" molded plastic terrarium, fake flowers, substrate, mister, and feeders. You will need to find a larger terrarium when your mantis gets too big (3-4 months). Deluxe Nymph Package - $75: mantis nymph, 5"x7" acrylic terrarium, fake flowers and two decor items (more can be purchased separately), substrate, mister, and feeders. You will need to find a larger terrarium when your mantis gets too big (3-4 months). Super Deluxe Full Mantis Package - $85: mantis nymph, 32 oz deli cup for nymph, 5"x10" acrylic terrarium for when nymph is large enough (to build at the workshop), fake flowers, three decor items (more can be purchased separately), substrate, mister, and feeders. Net cage add on - $9: another option for when your mantis gets too large is a pop-up net cage. |
